Book ahead. The best restaurants fill up days in advance in July and August, especially at weekends. Always call or book online at least 48 hours before.
Avoid peak hours. Eating at 1pm or 9:30pm instead of 2pm or 9pm makes a big difference in waiting time and service quality.
The north is cooler. If the southern heat is too much, the towns of Puerto de la Cruz, Garachico and La Orotava are perfect for eating on a terrace without suffering.
Try a guachinche. These traditional Canarian wine houses are the most authentic dining experience on the island. No fixed menu, local wine, family atmosphere. They fill up fast — arrive before 1pm at weekends.
