1. El Senador Restaurant & Beach House — Maspalomas
⭐ 4.7 · +7,200 Google reviews · Mediterranean & Spanish
Right on the beachfront in Maspalomas with sea views that few restaurants in the Canaries can match. The rice dishes, fresh fish and cheesecake are what customers mention most. Staff including Marc, Daniela, Tony and Anita are named individually across hundreds of reviews — a sign that service here is genuinely personal. Some find the prices high but most agree the setting and quality justify it. Perfect for a long lunch or romantic dinner.

⭐ 4.7 · +2,200 Google reviews · Traditional Canarian
One of the most unique dining experiences in Gran Canaria — a restaurant built inside a cave overlooking the Guayadeque ravine. Home-cooked food at accessible prices, with staff who know the menu inside out and make recommendations from and beyond the carte. Empanadas, fried cheese, croquettes and mixed grill are the favourites. Always full — book in advance. An unmissable stop for anyone exploring the interior of the island.

⭐ 4.7 · +2,000 Google reviews · Traditional Canarian
Worth leaving the coast for. Home cooking with seasonal produce, the kind of food that tastes like someone’s grandmother made it. ⭐ 4.6 · +2,100 Google reviews · Local Canarian
If you are anywhere near Telde, the roast leg bocadillo here is a mandatory stop. Juicy, generous and served on house-made anise bread — the kind of sandwich that locals drive across the island for. Friendly staff, quick service and prices that feel like a throwback. One of those places that is impossible to explain until you have tried it.

Las Palmas has the best local food scene. The capital is where locals eat — Vegueta, Triana and the port area have concentrated some of the best restaurants on the island. Worth a day trip from the south.
Drive inland. The interior of Gran Canaria — Guayadeque, Tejeda, Artenara — has some of the most authentic and affordable restaurants on the island. The drive is part of the experience.
Ask for the menú del día. Most restaurants offer a fixed lunch menu (starter, main, dessert and drink) for 10-15€. Excellent value and a great way to try local food without breaking the bank.
Maspalomas has more than tourist food. Beyond the resort strip, places like El Senador and Restaurante Time offer genuinely good food in a tourist-friendly area.
