Get out of the resort strip. Puerto del Carmen and Costa Teguise have good options but the best restaurants are in Yaiza, Haría and Teguise. Worth the drive.
Book ahead. The best places fill up fast, especially in summer and at weekends. Always call or book online at least a day before.
Order the daily fish. Ask what came in that morning. Lanzarote’s fish market supplies restaurants directly and the daily catch is always the best thing on the menu.
Try papas arrugadas. Wrinkled potatoes with mojo sauce are the quintessential Canarian side dish. Every restaurant does them — order them with everything.
